Roses and Teeth for Anarchism
Last night a street rave was “blown” (as the expression in Hebrew goes) by the police. The rave was organized by some anarcho-communist punks, with all sorts of live performances, art installations and whatnot. You’d even get a discount if you brought food and supplies for the needie.
Though witness reports seem a bit confusing, and it’s unclear right now “who took the first shot” as it were, what is clear is that the all-black-clad YASAM special police unit brutalized several young people who were already on their way out, and according eyewitnesses, denied a particular kid access to a paramedic who was at the scene, when he was already lying on the floor, bleeding and unconsciouss. Several punks/ravers were arrested, and several were hospitalized. It’s my understanding that at least one policeman is also hospitalized for a fractured skull.
I have to ask; What was the point of all of this? Who were the police protecting when they decided they should raid the party? Could they not have forseen that violence would ensue? I certainly could have, as I’ve seen quarrels between the punk scene and Israeli police before. These are not people who like to be told what to do, particularly by an armed authority. One could argue the severity of trespassing from now till kingdom come, I would still think it unjustified to beat the shit out of a bunch of teenagers for.
Grown, armed men, sworn to protect the public, should fucking know better.
Those of you who read Hebrew can compare and contrast the media report with an eyewitness report.

Total Eclipse » The Public Eye
[...] “The Public Eye,” or perhaps more properly called “The Community View” is something I’ve been tossing around my head recently. Right after the violent events described here, images, blog reports, messageboard posts and videos started popping all over the Israeli scenester netsphere, clearly detailing the police actions. You know what I find funny? You know how when everything seems lost, there are still those stupid storm troopers who would continue to fight? Why? So… it is the same way with police and thier shananigans… Who are they protecting when they clear up a party when instead they could be doing some real work… Although… I get very angry when people park in parking place, so I can understand why people who own that place wouldn’t want some little wankers there, plus you know that violence is justified for the good of man kind? Nah, just kidding… violence sucks… I am pretty sure there was a better way of handeling it…
Whatevs… but don’t get me started on the anarcho leftist shits either… you know what I also find funny? All these little leftist anarchists sitting around in Bugrashov, drinking Goldstar, smoking Winston Lights, shaving thier little mowhaks in their Braun shaveing machine, wearing their uber torn Levi’s and “hating the man”… people are full o’ shit…
Werd and miauw
Yes, yes, obviously a lot of these punks are hyprocrites, but that in itself is not reason enough to beat them up. Not to mention that not everyone at the rave was a punk. A lot of them were just ravers or casual party-goers looking for a good time in an otherwise culturally-desolate nightly shore.
I do however agree that it\\\’s both spinnable and a lot easier to raid a party than, you know, find and deal with actual felons. At the time of the raid, not two weeks before, someone was breaking into my car, and let\\\’s not even start with all the violent/sexual/organized crime going on.
Yes, let us focus our efforts on ravers and tokers, because they are not our fucking cousins.
Your post is on target. Keep it up.
